Winter Park Hill Climb 2010

Winter Park Hill Climb 2010After being postponed due to nasty weather the previous weekend, the weather was perfect and the Feedback MTB team fielded 15 racers for the kick off race of the Winter Park series. The hill climb is a seemingly never-ending 5.2 mile 2,062 ft climb up to 11,142ft. It starts at the base of Winter Park Ski Resort and ends at the top of Mary Jane.
Of course a light bike is an advantage in a pure hill climb. I mounted up my Maxxis Maxlite 310g tires on my 26" Hardtail which weighed in at 18.8lbs. The non-technical fire road even allowed a dozen or so people to race on cyclocross bikes.
Winter Park Hill Climb 2010Team record for the day was set by Jason Young at an impressive 36:35. Kat Statman (37:11), Jerry Kopack (39:19) and Doug Hudson (39:29) also broke the 40 minute mark with most of the other team members not too far behind.
We had one podium finish with Heather Brion finishing 2nd in the women's expert class.

Feedback has 3 teams of eight people competing for the series title. We had several members missing this race to do the Bailey Hundo, but we should be in full force for the next race on June 26th.
